Types of  registration

There are primarily 6 types of business registration in South Africa:

1. Register as a Sole Proprietor – this gives you free listing on BNReg.
2. Register a Defensive (Business) Name – included in 1 above.
3. Register a Pty Ltd Company with a name – 1 & 2 above not necessary.
4. Register a Pty / CC on Conada – gives you a free listing on BNReg.
5. Register a business name on BNReg – if you already have 2 or 3 above.
6. Register a business name on BNReg – common law usage, not having 1, 2 or 3 above.
